In psychology, the concept of ruminating means obsessively revisiting the same thoughts or theme on repeat. Ruminating on failure provides no benefit and, in fact, steals joy and highlights shame. Ruminating leaves you paralyzed, while reflecting liberates you to <a href=\"https:\/\/devoutly.org\/journal\/build-a-success-mindset-15-steps-to-achieve-god-given-goals\/\">proceed stronger than before.<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Following a failure, reflect on why the results didn&#8217;t turn out as expected. No matter the type of failure, whether in a career, relationship, goal, promise, or anything else you set out to do, you can learn from King David\u2019s reflection in Psalm 51 after he experienced failure. He wrote in <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=psalm+51%3A6&amp;version=ESV\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">Psalm 51:6<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, \u201cBehold, you delight in truth in the inward being, and you teach me wisdom in the secret heart.\u201d King David was grieved by his failure, yet his response was prayerful. God\u2019s power lacks nothing, so what might this passage mean? The Greek word for <\/span><i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">perfect<\/span><\/i><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> is teleio\u014d and can be translated as <\/span><i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">to be found perfect, to accomplish, <\/span><\/i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">and <\/span><i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">to carry through completely<\/span><\/i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">. Human failure does not add anything to God\u2019s power, but rather is the means by which God offers His redeeming strength in human lives.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559740&quot;:276}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">If you set out to accomplish something that didn\u2019t yield the results you hoped for, reflect on how God\u2019s power can be made known in your circumstances. Where can you see Him at work, and how might you encourage others in their failure by sharing your story with them? <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=2+corinthians+1%3A4&amp;version=ESV\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">2 Corinthians 1:4<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> says God \u201ccomforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.\u201d<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559740&quot;:276}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Reflecting Equips You to Impact God\u2019s Kingdom and the World Around You<\/span><\/b><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559740&quot;:276}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">God does not use perfect people because there would be none to call on. Instead, He beautifully redeems brokenness and transforms it into a stunning story of His grace and love. If you have failed in an endeavor or come up short on a commitment, God can take what feels futile and use it to reach those whose hearts are hardened toward His truth.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559738&quot;:240,&quot;335559739&quot;:240,&quot;335559740&quot;:276}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">King David made a bold statement while reflecting on his failure in <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=psalm+51%3A13&amp;version=ESV\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">Psalm 51:13<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">: \u201cThen I will teach transgressors your ways, and sinners will return to you.\u201d King David\u2019s failure did not disqualify him from God\u2019s grace.
