Heading toward me with a pile of papers was the now-familiar test monitor. It was my third and final chance to take the qualifying test for seminary. On my two earlier attempts, I became too paralyzed with fear to finish it. Today was do or die.
A memory was forming. It was the summer when I had another dream—of hiking up tall mountain peaks. I applied to a mountain-hiking club. I would go through weeks of intense training, but first had to take a test on my hiking knowledge. As the instructor handed me my examination, I panicked. What did I know, besides “wear good shoes?”
What did I do? Feeling Jesus with me, I stayed and took the test. Weeks later, I walked in my dream and reached those tall peaks.
Today, as I sat quaking in my boots while taking my test, I suddenly felt my Lord Jesus with me. Just then, I knew that in His presence, I could walk in my dream and climb new heights—all the way through seminary.
